“Bobby Lee Rodgers and the 5th Pyramid” is the new self-titled project by BLR, uniting his talent for highly versatile and cool guitar playing and smart and classy songwriting with a bunch of seasoned and experienced players, rooted in jazz, roots and improvised music. The line-up features the not-so-common presence of vibraphone and violin, giving it all an extra exotic acoustic mix of sixties parties music and vintage dancing vibe. The overall mood flies among funkafied versions of some of Rodgers’ classics and a couple of extraordinary explorative ballads, evoking old Van Morrisonesque atmospheres, and some latin moods too. Such an unusual mix is made even better and more exciting by the fact that almost 100% of the music has been cut live in the studio.
